Markos Damasiotis - Greece

Mr Markos Damasiotis holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering fully equivalent to Master (5 years attendance) from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He has more than 25 years of experience in the energy sector. Since 1994 he is working in the Hellenic Centre of Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES) and he has participated as senior expert or project manager in more than 50 renewable energy (RES) and energy efficiency (EE) projects, funded by National, European and International funds, concerning technologies, approximation of legislations, energy policy analysis and planning, implementation strategic programmes, market studies, research and training, awareness raising, innovative policy and financing mechanisms (e.g Guaranteed Results Contract and ESCOS), business and financing issues of RES and EE sector. Since 2007, he has been the Head of Development Project Applications Department and since 2015 the Director of the Development Programmes Division managing successfully, multidisciplinary and multinational scientific teams for the:

  • design and implementation of holistic RES and EE projects, with emphasis in the building sector, in developing countries, with funds coming from transnational cooperation programmes (e.g MED, INTERREG) or national or international development programmes (e.g EuropeAid, HellenicAid, Hellenic Development Fund, USAID)
  • design and implementation of national strategic projects funded by National or Regional Operative Programmes

His professional experience, besides Greece and other EU countries, is geographically concentrated in South East Europe, Black Sea Countries and in the Mediterranean. Especially in: Albania, FYROM, Bosnia – Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia, Turkey, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco.
